In mid-2006, Sun Capital Partners invested an undisclosed amount of money in D&T…According to Culinary Institute of America trained head chef, Ed Doyle, the plan is to make D&T “the Starbucks of popcorn.” Other Sun Capital buyouts include Friendly Ice Cream and Bruegger’s Bagels. In 2006 Sun Capital made headlines in Indianapolis when it laid off 10% of the employees of local grocery chain Marsh Supermarkets as the first phase of its restructuring plans. An employee who had been with the company for a number of years said, “"I don't like dealing with corporate's decisions, and when they hire too many people and have to cut our hours."
